A reprint/bootleg of the Belgian Forbidden Planet is very common. Directly below is a true original Belgian Forbidden Planet, which measures 14.5” x 22” (36mm x 55mm) and is similar in size to the US window card.  (Originals are often found trimmed, as are US window cards). is a portal, reference, and showcase to the wonderful world of movie poster collecting!  Pursuant to the “fair use” provisions of United States copyright law, any images on this site subject to copyright protection are displayed solely for the non-profit purposes of education and promotion of movie poster collecting. True original Belgian Forbidden Planet has “IMPRIME EN BELGIQUE” in the lower left.

Right corner of true original Belgian Forbidden Planet.

Directly below is the reprint/bootleg Belgian Forbidden Planet, which measures approximately 14”x22”.  There are numerous and obvious differences between the original and fake. The fake is missing the “VERBODEN PLANEET” in the lower yellow section of the original and says “SURPRENANT!” instead of “SURPRENANT! VERRASSEND!” in the lower right white box.

The fake/bootleg also has “printed in Belgium” in English in the lower right.  According to reports, the printer of these fakes refused to make exact copies of the originals but did agree to put “printed in Belgium” in the lower right.

NOTE: Many other Belgian posters were reprinted in the same manner.  AVOID BELGIAN POSTERS WITH “printed in Belgium” on them.

Below is a screenshot of a fake/bootleg sold by cstars on Ebay for $200.  (The buyer was notified that he had purchased a fake and he sought a refund.)
